Greetings!
welcomes
you to the Muse, our monthly email newsletter.
An archive of the Muse is kept in the
Resources

Muse Readership Survey
Thanks to those of you who responded to our Muse
readership survey. The main message we took away
was to continue doing what we are doing!

Netgem - Shambhala Institute for Authentic Leadership
Thanks to Diane
MacDonald for pointing us to the Shambhala
Institute for Authentic Leadership website. The
Shambhala Institute creates powerful learning
environments that support the deeper understanding,
strength, and skills leaders need to catalyze and
sustain positive change in today's complex world.
Based in Nova Scotia and in operation since 2001,
they offer a series of leadership and learning
workshops.
They also have some great resources on their
website. We were especially interested in the
discussion with Peter Senge, Frances Baldwin, and
Yvon Bastein about "bringing the mind of reflection
into action." You can download a number of
interviews and articles from their website.

Certified Training and Development Professional Program
Tammy and Dave were recently awarded Certified
Training and Development Professional (CTDP) status
through the Canadian Society of Training and
Development (CSTD). This is part of Calliope
Learning's ongoing commitment to work with the
CSTD (you may recall that we're helping to start a
Vancouver Island Chapter).
We feel that this new program will be valuable in
enhancing the professional status of the training
and development field in Canada, and is worthy of
our support. The CSTD Web site states "Developed by
experienced professionals in the field, the CTDP is
the only professional designation in Canada for
Training and Development practitioners. The holder
of the CTDP is recognized as having met the high
standards of performance, developed by CSTD, and
published in the Training Competency Architecture
(TCA)."
We encourage Muse readers to find out more by
following the link below and please don't hesitate
to get
in touch with us if you're considering certification
and would like to know more about our experience.

LearningEdge News
We've had a busy month with ASTD in Washington,
BCHRMA in Vancouver, a presentation with the
Conference Board of Canada in Edmonton and a
certification workshop in Vancouver. We continue to
receive a very enthusiastic response to LearningEdge.
ASTD Conference in
Washington
ASTD was the biggest conference we've ever attended!
There were over 450 exhibitors, many of whom set up
their own lecture theatres and demonstration labs!
Over 70 people attended our presentation, where we
used the Learning Signature to help participants
think about how they roll out new learning programs
such as
leadership, coaching, mentoring or e-learning
programs.

What's New?
"I do all of my investing outdoors
now. All that talk about inside trading makes me
paranoid!"
While we may not be investing outside, we certainly
are wanting to pull our laptops outside to work.
Enjoy the summer!
As we do every summer, we will again be teaching in
the Royal Roads
University Master of Arts in Leadership and Training
(MALT) program this summer. We look forward to
four weeks of learning and fun!
